New Orleans, Louisiana

Back in the end of July two of my friends and I took a trip down to New Orleans! My friends opted to drive both ways, but I just accompanied them for the first part. Our road trip down was quite fun and had a lot of interesting stops and experiences along the way. Some of those highlights include a strangely named town of Cooter, fried chicken at 9:00am, shooting toothpicks into the ceiling of a restaurant, and camping in the middle of nowhere in a state park near Memphis, Tennessee.

When we arrived the for our first day in New Orleans, we checked into our Air BnB, honestly… took a nap, and then went out to get dinner, had some local beer and see a well known, local group; The Rebirth Brass Band.

The next morning we slept in a little and began our day with a Swamp Tour to see some gators! We even had the chance to hold a baby gator!

After our tour, we quickly checked out the nature center nearby and got some lunch of NOLA classic cuisine; Poboys and Hurricanes! We spent the night on a ghost tour and then walked around more on our own listening to music and trying different drinks including a Shark Attack.

The next day we went to Cafe Du Monde for some beignets and explored some of art, music and shops in the area. We also went to Jackson Square, Saint Louis Cathedral, a music shop, as well as some of their surroundings. To finish off the night we went to another brass band show at the Playhouse and wandered around Bourbon Street until we went to bed!

The next morning my friends took off on their drive early and I spend some time alone before checking out and heading to the hotel! It was a short and sweet trip and I’m so glad I got to share it with two such wonderful people! 🙂
